The long travels were protected by black rubber coverings, the large air filter box was now housed under the saddle and the mudguards (the front mounted low onto the wheel) were made in white plastic. The headlight housing was made in the same colour and material which also enclosed the front number plate.
The vinyl apron no longer features and the yellow discs, onto which racing numbers could be applied is now obtained by shaping the sides of the air filter box.
At the Valleys of Bergamo (Bratto 29/30 May) Gino Perego was the top achieving of all the Italians and he came second in the extremely competitive 50cc class.
To better exploit the merits of the engine, during the course of the season, it was decided to fit a motocross transmission with a longer first gear.
The Austrian Six Days (20/25 September) also ended with two excellent second places: Gino Perego on a 50cc and Osvaldo Scaburri in the 75cc class.
The European Championships ended with similar results with Gino Peregio 2
nd in the 50cc class and Osvaldo Scaburri 4th in the 75cc division.

On the home front the fearless Gino Perego once again won the 50cc division of the Italian Championships, ending a year rich in victories and making him the best rider in his class.
1976 also saw the debut of the new Frigerio-Rotax F1.
With endurance racing evolving constantly, the special trails always proved to be the deciding factor. In line with this trend all three models initially put forward, the 125cc, 175cc and 250cc, had a new frame which in keeping with the traditional double cradle enclosed by steel piping with tubular spar, was inspired by the Puch 250cc winner of the 1975 Motocross title.
Being supplied by the same supplier as Ferrari and MV Augusta, the standard of the carbon and the percentage of chrome present in the steel tubing of the frame, obviously chrome molybdenum, were at the apex of the field.
The total weight, including the swing arm, was the lowest in its category and a mere 10kg.
The front drive train was fitted with Ceriani telehydraulic forks, while in the rear Marzocchi gas shocks were chosen.
