The colours of the models 125, 175 and 250 remained unchanged, white and red while the 347, which already came with an orange model, had a white and orange livery. The trading of first TF1 models, powered 125, 175, 250 and 347, both cross and off-road, started in April 1979, while the production of the 370 started only in October.
The new TF1 powered 125, 175, 250 cc were presented during the autumn Motor show were identical to the previous ones but were wearing the new orange white and black colouring like the 347 and 370.
Aluminium tanks were last mounted on official bikes in 1979.
As to the powering, the most important changes occurred in the 125 through the adoption of a new cylinder with chromed bar in nikasil with five pourings and two boosters on the exhaust and the use of the PHBE 34 Dell’Orto carburettor.
The collaboration with Fiorentina Gori started between the end of 1979 and the beginning of 1980 through the supply of Rotax engines.
As to competitions, SWM turned out to be extremely active and the season ended with a lot of first rankings.

Gualtiero Brissoni ranked first in the 125 class and Franco Gualdi ranked first too in the 250 class of the Italian Championship, but the victories at the European Championship were even brighter: Brissoni and Gualdi confirmed their position and SWM won a third class too, the 175 with Andrea Marinoni.
The final result of the European Championship was already clear at the Valli Bergamasche (19th- 20th May). On that occasion Guglielo Andreini won also the second place in the 500 class.
Edy Orioli, a new promise, won the 50 class of the Italian cadet championship.
The year was already rich in successes and satisfactory achievements, but some more results were reached at the German Six Days at Neukirchen (10th-15th September) where Italy won the Trophy with a mixed team made up by three SWM bikers (Andreini, Brissoni and Franco Gualdi), and three KTM (Andrioletti, Croci e Taiocchi).
The balance was more than positive as Marinoni won the 175 class and Andreini won the 500 class, while Gualdi ranked second in the 250 class and Brissoni ranked second too in the 350 class.
The heavy prize records were enriched by Guglielmo Andreini’s victory of the Italian cross Championship, class 500, and Jean Claud Laquaye’s victory of the Belgian cross Championship.
SWM conquered another important record as it had the undoubted capacity to collect sponsorship as a matter of fact stickers covered all available spaces suitable for advertisements.
There were sixteen different sponsors only on the front part of the mudguard, included the inbuilt light holder.
Official bikes were further featured by the amount of all these stickers.
