1971 – After the first year of tests and trials, the new collaboration starts to bear fruit, with even more prestigious and amazing achievements, thanks to the new motorcycles which the Racing Department entrusts to its ace racing riders.
Flanking the usual official models, a new frame made its appearance with chrome vanadium tubing and a lowered centre of gravity, able to better the performance and drivability of the motorcycle.
The typical appearance of the new models, gave it the nickname of "basset" which, in the collective imagination identifies both the limited official models as well as the many replicas and variables which appeared over the years.
Despite a few differences the choice of double cradle loop frame with bolted tubular spar with variable section, made lighter by way of three large perforations at the front, was confirmed.
These new models were also made noticeable by a long silencer which exited low under the engine and curved diagonally along the entire right rear end.
The section of the silencer closest to the ground was protected by a cover in light sheet metal anchored to the double cradle by two molded pipes.

The fenders were still in chromed steel, but the front fender was now mounted higher, the rims were light-weight and the new fuel tank, still red but made of fiberglass. Probably due to weight considerations the comfortable centre stand was replaced by a side stand on the left hand side.
In order to strengthen the steering yoke, two diagonal spars made their appearance from the squared tubing, went under the fuel tank and descended to intercept the two tubes forming part of the double cradle, just slightly above the engine.
This latest alteration was also applied to the mass produced motorcycles sold to the public, on which were added two protruding protective molded pipes welded to the two sides of the double cradle, on its lowest point.
