1966 – The fruits of all their hard work were evident in two outstanding results. The 1964, 50 GS was vastly improved. The air cooling system was upgraded to a aluminum cooling system, with fins and discreetly powerful, able to breathe at full capacity thanks to a large air filter box.
The gearbox equipped with six gears and the latest generation Ceriani forks took it to the pinnacle of its class.
As far as mass produced catalogue models were concerned, this was the best available in the world at that time.
To increase its winning image Puch lined up as an official brand name to take part in the most important competitions with its own team and machines customized by using the most advanced technology.
The 50cc class represented in the 60's the most extreme frontier, where only the best and most advanced were able to compete. Puch was the only non-German make with an engine advanced enough, with regards to power and reliability, to rise to the top of Europe's classification board.

Puch decided to make its mark in this specific class by developing a new double cradle frame and taking the utmost care with the smallest of details.
Because the cylinder was mounted at a 45˚ angle, to ensure better ventilation, the entire engine was mounted in an almost vertical position.
The result was a gutsy, compact motorcycle with an unusual cooling system in sand cast aluminum, with a chrome pipe and uniquely shaped fins on the cylinder head to allow for greater cooling, this compact racer managed an exceptional powerful output of 8hp even though this could only be achieved at very high revolutions, accessible only to the most daring riders.
An excellent six speed gearbox enabled the optimal utilization of the engine's power. On the front drive train the best available was brought together: the beautiful Ceriani "Gran Premio" in 28 mm long travel, an excellent 21" wheel and an outstanding MZ hub with straight spokes.
Once again prevalent in red, with chromed mudguards and the characteristic large red seat with the high white borders.
